Study of mechatronics and robotics
Mechatronics and robotics
What is Mechatronics?
Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary field combining knowledge from mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, computer science, and control systems. It integrates various technical fields to create systems that are more than the sum of their parts. A typical example of a mechatronic product is a robot. While industrial robots are already widespread, future growth is expected in households, medicine, underwater, and space exploration, with mechatronics engineers playing a key role.
Study Levels
The university program in Mechatronics and Robotics is currently the only one in Croatia. It begins with a three-year undergraduate program, leading to a bachelor's degree, providing essential technical knowledge. This is followed by a two-year master's program that deepens expertise and ends with the title of Master of Engineering. There are six specializations, and students can further pursue a PhD for independent research work.
- Study programs: Undergraduate study program, Graduate study program
- Duration: six semesters (undergraduate), four semesters (graduate)
- Number of ECTS credits: 180 (undergraduate), 120 (graduate)
Study Topics
The first two years focus on fundamental subjects like mathematics, mechanics, and materials, while the third year dives deeper into mechatronics with topics like automation, robotics, sensors, motors, and microcontrollers.
- Programming Fundamentals
- WEB programming
- Cognitive Informatics
Laboratory Equipment
Students have access to modern educational and research labs with collaborative and industrial robots, mobile and humanoid robots, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and advanced vision systems.
