SAFER - New IRI S3 Project

We are excited to share our involvement in the SAFER project – an applied research and innovation initiative focused on developing a next-generation smart fire extinguisher powered by Artificial Intelligence and IoT technologies.

The project is coordinated by our industrial partner Pastor – TVA (https://pastor.hr/en/), bringing strong real-world expertise into the development process.

SAFER introduces a distributed early warning and fire prevention system, enabling continuous monitoring of device status and environmental conditions such as pressure, temperature, smoke, hazardous gases, and air quality. Through integration with mobile applications and smart home systems, the solution supports proactive safety and rapid response.

Funded within the IRI S3 framework (Research, Development and Innovation under the Smart Specialisation Strategy), the project aligns with key priorities of strengthening collaboration between academia and industry, accelerating technology transfer, and fostering innovation-driven growth.

The outcome of SAFER will include a functional prototype, digital platform, and validated solution ready for real-world deployment—contributing to improved safety and opening new opportunities for IoT-based services in residential environments.
